STE. GENEVIEVE – The Auxiliary Knights of Columbus donated teddy bears to newborns, pediatric patients and their families at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH).
Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus (Bob and Charlotte Hall) were among those stopping by the hospital dressed festively and spreading holiday cheer with arms full of teddy bears.
This is the second year for the Auxiliary Knights of Columbus program and according to them it just keeps improving.
“This year, our total reached an unimaginable amount of $10,778! This amount bought us 1,263 Teddy Bears, which went to 13 hospitals including SGCMH and one women’s shelter,” said Bob Hall KC member and Chairman of the Missouri Knights on Bikes (aka Santa).” I am so humbled by our sisters and brothers throughout this great state! Without these sisters and brothers, this wouldn’t be possible.”
The Ste. Genevieve Ladies Auxiliary Council 1037 donated the funds for 40 teddy bears to be taken to Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital. Brenda Stuppy, Ladies’ Auxiliary President sent in a check for the donation.
“It is our pleasure and hope that these will bring comfort to the little ones for many years as they grow up,” said Brenda Stuppy. “We are grateful to have such an opportunity.”
The Knights of Columbus were met by Sarah Kelley, Executive Director of HR and Support Services and Jennifer McBride-Hobbs, Chief Nursing Officer to accept the gift on behalf of the hospital.
“We are more than honored to accept the teddy bears,” said McBride-Hobbs. “It will mean so much to our families.”
The bears will be given to newborns and children that visit our facility as patients in the emergency room, operating room and obstetric/pediatric unit.
