Seven Gables Inn goes ‘global’ with Marriott Hotels & Resorts

CLAYTON, Mo. — Seven Gables Inn, often referred to as a European oasis and a hidden gem in the heart of Clayton, will continue to strengthen its strong independent charm by joining the Marriott Hotels & Resorts Tribute Portfolio.

Tribute Portfolio is a growing global family of characterful, independent hotels, drawn together by their striking design moments, bold use of color and art installations. During the past two years, Amy and Amrit Gill of Restoration St. Louis and owners of the Seven Gables Inn, have been quietly working behind the scenes to renovate the entire hotel to include curated artwork by local artist Fern Taylor, new vibrant furniture in public spaces and upgraded courtyard patio furnishings.

Some in-room upgrades include new guest safes and mini bars. Under the Tribute Portfolio flag, Seven Gables Inn guests from around the world can now earn Bonvoy Travel rewards through the Marriott Bonvoy Global Reservations System.

“The Seven Gables Inn has provided a quirky charm and European ambiance in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Clayton business district for more than 90 years,” Amy Gill said, “and we wanted to ensure that this oasis-like treasure remains for decades more. The Marriott Bonvoy program will open our midwestern spirit to a larger audience, and where else can you experience Europe without the jet lag?”

With nearly 50 hotels open around the world, Tribute Portfolio has struck a chord with those who seek out independent experiences and crave a connection with the community when traveling.

“Seven Gables Inn is the perfect fit for Tribute Hotels & Resort,” Amrit Gill said. “This means that business and leisure travelers alike will enjoy all the benefits of Marriott’s Travel Program called ‘Marriot Bonvoy.’ We’re excited our guests will be able to experience this following our multi-million renovation these past few years.”

The Gills have restored the inn to its previous glory, which features 32 guest rooms and suites that blend Old World charm with modern luxury.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property dates to 1926.

With its high gabled European roof and outdoor courtyard, decorative timbering, massive chimney and slender windows, the Tudor Revival-style property is surrounded by modern high-rises and is located within the walkable Clayton city business center.

To coincide with the completed renovation of the hotel, the in-house American restaurant called “SEVEN,” will continue to feature the “Lost Legends” menu that pays homage to dishes from famous past St. Louis restaurants.

Guests will continue to be able to eat on the restaurant’s street side covered porch or in the beautifully encapsulated outdoor courtyard. In the fall and winter seasons, guests can still dine in the courtyard in the deluxe heated tent. A full-service complimentary breakfast is available daily for all overnight guests. Breakfast is also available to the public (for purchase) seven days a week.

In-room amenities include Seura TVs inside the bathroom mirrors, Toto Washlets (only the third hotel in the country to have them in every room and suite), Serta Perfect sleeper beds and large Tudor-style windows.

Seven Gables is also pet friendly, ideal for guests wanting to visit the nearby sprawling Clayton Shaw Park, just three blocks away, or the iconic Forest Park, located three miles from the hotel. The hotel offers a “resident day pass,” which allows guest to use the Shaw Park fitness center and indoor/outdoor pool depending on the season.

Home to St. Louis County government, Clayton features a collection of boutiques, galleries, unique restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. A wide range of annual events attract thousands of visitors, including the Saint Louis Art Fair, Taste of Clayton Food Festival, Gallery Nights, Parties in the Park, and a seasonal farmers market.
