Betty H. Congleton

A funeral will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 for 90-year-old Betty H. Congleton of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 5:36 am, Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home, Chester, Illinois.

 

She was born January 21, 1931 in Fort Gage, Ill., the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (nee Seel) Hasemeyer who both preceded her in death.

 

Betty married Ralph “Blue” Congleton on June 28, 1952 in Piggot, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on December 9, 2016.

 

She is survived by a stepson: Larry (Sharon) Congleton of Chester; three sisters: Wanda Frazer of Ellis Grove, Ill., Carol Richards of Waterloo, Ill., and Sandra Yankey of Chester; two step grandchildren: Jeff (Sylvia) Congleton and Tracy (Ron) Cook; a step great granddaughter: Sophia Congleton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

She was also preceded in death by a brother: Gary and a sister: Ruth Ann.

 

Betty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.

 

She was also a long time volunteer at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home and a friend to all that knew her.

 

She was a talented quilt maker, winning numerous awards for her beautiful hand stitched creations, often depicting historical scenes in Randolph County.

 

Betty also created beautiful pies that were in big demand by the locals around Chester.

 

She will be missed.

 

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.

 

A funeral for 90-year-old Betty H. Congleton of Chester will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester. The Rev. Timothy Sims will officiate.

 

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
