JEFFERSON CITY— Missourians in Dunklin, Pemiscot, or St. Charles County who lost food purchased with their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to tornadoes and severe weather will now have until January 12, 2022 to report their loss to the Family Support Division and receive replacement benefits. This extension comes after the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service approved the request from the Department of Social Services to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement benefits.
“We must do what we can to support Missourians who were impacted by the recent severe storms and tornadoes,” said Robert Knodell, Acting Director of the Department of Social Services. “Our team is dedicated to making sure that families receive the help they need as they continue to recover from tremendous damage and loss.”
To report a loss and begin the process of receiving replacement benefits, the SNAP household or an Authorized Representative must complete and return the Replacement Request Form by January 12. Completed forms can be submitted to the Family Support Division (FSD) by mail, fax, or in person at any local FSD office.
If an individual’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card was lost, stolen or damaged they should call 800-997-7777 to ask for a replacement. They can also call the FSD Information Center at 855-FSD-INFO (855-373-4636) for help.
If a recent tornado or severe storm has displaced a family and the family is in need of child care services, they may be eligible for child care assistance due to being homeless (includes residing in a shelter or staying with relatives/friend).
