A funeral will be held Monday, December 12, 2021 for 100-year-old Mary Ann Jeffreys, of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.
She was born October 14, 1921 in St. Louis, the daughter of Harry E. and Martha (nee Rensch) Kennedy who both preceded her in death.
Mary Ann married Robert “Jeff” L. Jeffreys on April 25, 1959 in Washington, D.C.; he preceded her in death December 9, 2004.
She is survived by a son: Chris (Patricia) Jeffreys Lebanon, Ill.; four grandchildren: Eric Jeffreys, Sarah (K.C.) Peterson, Jeremy Fernow and Sarah Mueller; three great grandchildren: Aaliyah, Selena and Kadence.
She was also preceded in death by a brother: Eugene Kennedy.
She was a homemaker. In her earlier years she was a secretary in the Department of the Navy.
Mary Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chester where she also served as a secretary for many years.
She was also the corresponding secretary for the USS Birmingham CL62 Reunion.
She was a part of several organizations and clubs including United Methodist Women, Library Board, Bridge Club, and the Hospital Auxiliary where she was chairman of the blood drive. She loved playing games and was an avid reader.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois.
A funeral for 100-year-old Mary Ann Jeffreys of Chester will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois. Pastor James Oppedal will officiate.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Illinois.
