Erwin Edgar Kassel

A funeral will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 for 83-year-old Erwin Edgar Kassel of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Independence Care Center.

He was born November 2, 1938 in Farrar, Mo., the son of William and Wilma (Roth) Kassel who both preceded him in death.

He married Rose Roth December 10, 1966 at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, Mo.

He is survived by a son: Kent (Dawn) Kassel of Perryville, Mo.; a daughter: Christine (Gregory) Baer of Perryville, Mo.; two brothers: Melvin (Jeanne) Kassel of St. Charles, Mo. and Roy (Jean) Kassel of Olathe, Kans.; a sister: Gladys Reid of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren: Morgan (fiance’ Jeffrey Roth) Thaxton, Dalton (Abby) Baer, Kassidy (fiance’ Tim Schumer) Kassel, Camryn Baer, Kara Kassel, Kaden Kassel; and a great-grandchild: Xander Thaxton; .

Erwin graduated from Perryville High School in 1957.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. He was involved in his church, serving on various boards and committees and recording church services for many years.

He was a member of the National Guard.

He was a full time farmer and sold Hardy Outdoor Wood Burning Heaters to many families in the area.

Erwin was on the Perry County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and served as President for many years.

One of his greatest joys in life was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, there had to be an extremely good reason for him to miss an event.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo.

Visitation will continue 9-10 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Mo..

A funeral for 83-year-old Erwin Edgar Kassel of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. The Rev. Roger Abernathy will officiate.

Burial will be at SalemLutheranCemetery in Farrar, Mo.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Crown Hospice, the PCMH CST Program, the Creative Care Unit of Independence Care Center or the charity of your choice. .
