Emerald Loida

A funeral will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021 for 93-year-old Emerald Loida of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at The Arbors at Parkwood Meadows in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

He was born November 10, 1928 in Bloomsdale, Mo. the son of Albert Loida and Rose (Schilly) Loida, who both preceded him in death.

He married Ardeth “Carol” (McClain) Loida April 7, 1956. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son: William “Bill” Loida of Sainte Genevieve; three daughters: Cathy (Danny) Young of Bloomsdale, Cheryl (Will) Krah of Arnold, Mo., and Pamela (Douglas) Hopkins of Sainte Genevieve; two sisters-in-law: Beulah Loida of Sainte Genevieve and Betty (Tony) Ritter of Ozora, Mo.; a family friend: Larry Palmer; grandchildren: Laura, Kristin, Katrina, Kimberly, Aundrea, Stephen, Candice (Andrew) and Lexi and eight great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Wilma Loida; three brothers: Wilbert Loida, Harry Loida, and Carl Loida; and a sister-in-law: Jane A. Loida.

Emerald, known to his friends as EJ, was a wonderful man who was loved by all.

His passion in life was farming and a love of animals, especially his cows.

It was his love of the land that led him to Levee District II where he served as president for 50 years.

Dad never met a stranger, and a firm handshake meant the world.


Dad was deeply devoted to his faith and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In the past year Dad loved his extended family at The Arbors.


He will always be remembered for his warm sense of humor and his genuine smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve.

 

A funeral for 93-year-old Emerald Loida of Sainte Genevieve will be held at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 12 noon. The Rev. Michael Benz will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale.

Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Parish and School or to Crown Hospice.
