November Mobile Market draws large turnout

CHESTER – The November Mobile Market attracted a large number of persons Wednesday, November 24th.

Cars and trucks lined the parking lot and roadway approaching the Cohen Field Parking lot Wednesday November 24.  No, it wasn’t for a key baseball game or other sporting event, it was for the November Mobile Market sponsored by the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry (CACFP). 

The lot typically hosts four or five rows of vehicles at a normal Mobile Market, but on this special Thanksgiving Mobile Market the ot was completely covered with eight rows of automobiles, approximately 120 total.

The event provided Thanksgiving meals for 242 families.  Patrons received a ” Meal in a Box” containing enough food supplies for a family meal including macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pies, green beans, corn, and sweet potatoes.  As patrons moved down the line of food pallets, they also received 10 lbs. of potatoes, a bag of apples, squash, a frozen baking chicken, and a case of grapes.  Food Pantry personnel report that this event was one of the biggest in Mobile Market history.
