Randolph Co.: 11 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

CHESTER — The Randolph County Health Department reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths as of Friday

There are 27 active cases with one in the hospital.

There have been 5,690 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. There have been 5,563 recoveries and 100 deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports Randolph County has an orange or substantial level of community transmission and advises “Everyone in Randolph County, Illinois should wear a mask in public, indoor settings.”

The Illinois Department of Health reports 44.95 percent of Randolph County residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

That compares with the 71.3 percent ages 12-plus rate for the state as a whole. 

The Randolph County Health Department has released a schedule of upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

The department is administering the first, second, third and booster doses of the COVID vaccine

The clinics are held 8:30 am – 11:30 am (Unless stated otherwise).

The next Pfizer vaccination clinic will be held from 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17th and Tuesday, November 30th. 

The Pfizer vaccine has been approved for children aged 5-11 by the CDC and the Illinois Department of Public Health has adopted the recommendations.

The Randolph County Health Department will administer to this age group once the pediatric vaccine has been received.

The county expects a shipment the week of November 15th at which time we will start to schedule appointments specifically for this age group.

At that time parents should call the health department at 618 826 5007 and register them for the Pfizer clinic.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they go to the clinic.

A Moderna booster vaccine clinic will be held 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17th, Thursday, November 18, Friday, November 19, Tuesday, November 23 and Wednesday, December 1.

A Johnson and Johnson vaccine clinic will be held Tuesday, November 16.

Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and Kroger in the area are administering the vaccine in an effort to increase the number of opportunities for individuals to receive the vaccine.
