Bloomsdale Elementary holds annual Career Day

BLOOMSDALE — This year, Career Day was held at Bloomsdale Elementary for fourth and fifth grade students on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Students had the opportunity to meet several local business professionals and organizations; eight different careers were represented from six different career paths.

These included industrial and engineering technology, health services, arts and communications, business management and technology, natural resources, and law enforcement.

Mrs. Rowland and the fourth and fifth grade faculty and students would like to thank the local businesses and professionals who took the time to engage with our students about their respective careers: Kyle Drury, project manager at Bloomsdale Excavating; Adam Wilson and Denise Pounds with the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District; Greg Pfaff and Jeff Opperman with the Bloomsdale Fire Department; Dr. Clint Wolk, optometrist at Ste. Genevieve Vision Care; Kenzie Wolk, artist; Cara Naeger, owner of the Dew Drop Inn, Kozy Kitchen and Baetje Farms; Missouri Conservation Department Agent Rob Sulkowski, and Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeff McCarty.

Students learned about regulations for hunting and fishing, asked questions about being an entrepreneur, learned about the various tools and equipment used by fire departments, EMTs, and sheriffs’ offices, and much more! Thanks to careful planning and collaboration among staff and community members, our students experienced fun, informational sessions about possible careers!
