MoDHSS reports slight decline in Perry Co. COVID-19

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is reporting a slight decline in COVID-19 cases in Perry County after a recent surge.

The department reports Perry County had 64 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 for a daily average of nine and no deaths in the seven days ending October 29 for a total of 3,174 confirmed and probable cases and a death toll of 33 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The day before there were 70 new cases with an average of 10 perday.

The latest numbers are better:

There were 17 confirmed cases on October 25 and 15 on October 27. There were nine new cases on October 28, eight cases each on October 23 and 26, four new cases on October 24 and two on October 29.

The Missouri Department of Heath and Senior Services reports 37.3 percent of Perry County residents are fully vaccinated.

The Perry County Health Department has scheduled a Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic Monday through Thursday, with walk ins welcomed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the office at 406 Spring Street in Perryville. No appointment needed.

There was no word on when the Perry County Health Department would offer the Moderna booster shot. They are available at the Cape Girardeau County Health Department. Call 573 335 7846 for an appointment.

The Department reports Ste. Genevieve County has had 10 new confirmed and probable cases in the seven days ending October 22 for a daily average of 1.43 and no new deaths for a total of 2,408 confirmed and probable cases and 29 confirmed deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The Department reports 43.1 percent of the Ste. Genevieve County population is fully vaccinated.

Ste. Genevieve County is offering the Moderna vaccine by appointment only. Call 573 883 7411.

The Moderna booster shot will be administered Fridays by appointment only.

The Pfizer vaccine for those aged 12 and up is being administered at the CVS Pharmacy in Ste. Genevieve. Visit CVS.com to make an appointment.

The Department reports 6,003 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide during the seven days ending October 29. That’s an average of 858 new cases a day. The state also reports 14 deaths during the same period.

That brings the statewide total to 855,261 cases with 12,055 deaths. The Department reports 49.5 percent of the state’s eligible population are fully vaccinated.
