CHESTER — The Randolph County Health Department reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death as of Wednesday.
There are 24 active cases with no one in the hospital.
There have been 5,631 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020. There have been 5,507 recoveries and 100 deaths.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports Randolph County has the highest level of community transmission and advises “Everyone in Randolph County, Illinois should wear a mask in public, indoor settings.”

The Illinois Department of Health reports 44.65 percent of Randolph County residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
That compares with the 66.52 percent rate for the state as a whole.
The Randolph County Health Department has released a schedule of upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
The clinics are held 8:30 am – 11:30 am (Unless stated otherwise). Please call Health Department at (618) 826-5007 to schedule an appointment.
The health department is administering the first, second, third and booster doses of the COVID vaccine.
The next Pfizer vaccination clinic will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. today, then Thursday, November 4th, Wednesday, November 17th, and Tuesday, November 30th.
(This vaccine has been approved for children aged 12-17 as well as adults.)
The parents of children aged 12-17 should call the health department at 618 826 5007 and register them for the Pfizer clinic.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they go to the clinic.
A Moderna first or second dose vaccine clinic will be held Friday, November 19.
A Moderna booster vaccine clinic will be held 1-3:30 p.m. Friday, October 29; Tuesday, November 2; Wednesday, November 10, and Friday, November 19.
A Johnson and Johnson vaccine clinic will be held Tuesday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 23.
A flu vaccine clinic will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Friday, October 29.

Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and Kroger in the area are administering the vaccine in an effort to increase the number of opportunities for individuals to receive the vaccine.
Children 5-11 years old: the Pfizer vaccine is in approval stages. The target date for approval to administer to this age group is early November.
