A private graveside service will be held at a later date for 67-year-old Deborah L. Hanger of Sparta, Illinois, who passed away at 12:29 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
She was born January 10, 1954 in Red Bud, Illinois, the daughter of Albert “Jim” Kempfer who preceded her in death and June (nee Glenn) Kempfer, who survives in Evansville, Ill.
Deborah married Robert Hanger on July 5, 2005 in Chester, Illinois; he survives in Sparta.
She is also survived by a son: Shane (Cari) Manning of Red Bud; five siblings: Pam (Dean) Brueggemann of Evansville, Kim (Clois “JR”) Wilson of Red Bud, Butch Kempfer of Evansville, Larry (Kim) Kempfer of Evansville, and Darren (Missy) Kempfer of Evansville; two grandchildren: Mason and Megan Manning and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
She was also preceded in death by her grandparents: Minnie and Roy “Judge” Kempfer.
Before retiring, she had worked as an assembler at Spartan Light Metals in Sparta, Illinois.
Deborah was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Evansville, Illinois.
She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, fishing, gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
It was Deborah’s wish to be cremated.
