NWS warnings issued

ST. LOUIS — This is a compilation of emailed NWS warnings issued Sunday night and received at KSGM/Sun Times News Online.

The weather radios in the River Region were busy Sunday night as the National Weather Service reported severe storms moving toward the region.

At 7:44 p.m. the National Weather Service in St Louis issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Monroe County in southwestern Illinois, Southeastern Jefferson County in east central Missouri, Northwestern Ste. Genevieve County in southeastern Missouri, Southeastern Washington County in east central Missouri and northwestern St. Francois County in southeastern Missouri. At 7:39 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Irondale, moving northeast at 35 mph. This severe thunderstorm was expected to be in Leadwood around 7:50 p.m., Bonne Terre and Desloge around 7:55 p.m. Other locations in the path of this severe thunderstorm included Olympian Village. This includes Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 157 and 174. This also included St. Francois State Park.

 

At 8:07 p.m. the National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Tornado Warning for South central Monroe County in southwestern Illinois, West central Randolph County in southwestern Illinois, Northwestern Ste. Genevieve County in southeastern Missouri and North central St. Francois County in southeastern Missouri until 8:45 p.m. CDT. At 8:03 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Bonne Terre, moving northeast at 30 mph headed toward Bloomsdale. This also includes St. Francois State Park. This includes Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 154 and 162.

 

At 8:08 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Iron Mountain Lake, moving northeast at 45 mph. The storm was expected to be in Park Hills around 8:20 p.m., Farmington and Knob Lick around 8:25 p.m. Other locations in the path of this tornadic thunderstorm included Coffman, Weingarten and Rocky Ridge. This also included St. Joe State Park and Hawn State Park.

 

At 8:34 p.m., a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near Coffman, moving northeast at 40 mph. Locations impacted were expected to include Ste. Genevieve, St. Mary and Chester. This also included Felix Valle House State Park. This includes Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 141 and 150.

 

At 8:42 p.m., a tornado producing storm was located over Coffman, 12 miles east of Farmington, moving northeast at 45 mph.

 

At 9:02 p.m., a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Junction City, or near Fredericktown, moving northeast at 35 mph. The tornado was expected to be near Perryville around 9:40 p.m. Other locations expected to be impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm included Lithium and Silver Lake, and I-55 between Mile markers 128 and 139.
