A funeral will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 for 90-year-old Virginia M. Long of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 1:50 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home, Chester, Illinois.
She was born August 1, 1931 in Ellis Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Eddie L. and Elsie M. (nee Bendorf) Howie, who both preceded her in death.
Virginia married Glenn Long April 14, 1951 in Chester, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1964.
She is survived by three sons: Glenn (Mary) Long of Chester, Ill., Tommy Long of Chester, Ill. and Johnny Long of Chester, Ill.; a granddaughter: Shelby (Jordan) Wetzel and a great grandson: Kade Wetzel.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Phyllis Ann Long and a brother: Harold Howie.
She had worked in housekeeping at Chester Mental Health Center for 18 years.
Virginia was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois.
She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Chester and the Chester Senior Center.
Virginia enjoyed crocheting, reading and doing word puzzles.
Visitation will be held 12-noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, Illinois.
A funeral for 90-year-old Virginia M. Long of Chester will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, Illinois. The Rev. Phillip Keeton will officiate.
Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, Illinois.
Masks are required when entering the funeral home.
