A funeral will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 for 90-year-old Margaret Jean Hunt of Perryville, Missouri who passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at her home in Perryville.
She was born June 16, 1931 in St. Mary, Missouri the daughter of George F. and Stella E. (Gibbar) Mattingly.
She and Leslie A. Hunt Jr. were married on September 2, 1950 at The Church of the Assumption in Perryville, blessed with 70 years of marriage. He preceded her in death August 2, 2021.
She is survived by one son and four daughters: Lois (Tom Richardet) Miller, LeeAnn (Glen) Lowes, Cindy (Roger) Besand, Carla Brewer and Michael (Jill) Hunt all of Perryville, Mo.; a sister-in-law: Alma Mattingly of Perryville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren: Larry Miller, Chris, Emily and Ryan Besand, Ryan and Shalane Lowes, Julie Baranowski, Andy Mattingly, Lora Dirnberger, Robert Brewer, Adam and Alex Hunt and 14 great grandchildren.
Jean was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Mattingly and Elmer Mattingly; six sisters: Gertrude Terbrak, Mildred Moll, Anna Ruessler, Agnes Bohnert, Velma Peer and Lillian Zahner; and three sons-in-law: Gary Miller, Allen Mattingly and Mark Brewer;
Jean worked at the International Shoe Factory in Perryville, then she went to work at Prince Gardner in St. Mary. In the following years she worked at a variety of businesses in Perryville.
Jean loved working in her flower garden, sewing and spending time with her dog, Mary.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Perryville. She was past member of Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Post No. 133 Booster.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 and 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
A funeral mass for 90-year-old Margaret Jean Hunt of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Joe Geders C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
