Jobless rate falls in Perry, Ste. Genevieve Counties

JEFFERSON CITY — The unemployment rate is down in Perry and Ste. Genevieve Counties.

 

The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development has released the August 2021 unemployment rates.

 

Perry County’s jobless rate has fallen 1.3 percent in the past year, from 3.9 percent in August 2020 to 2.6 percent in August 2021. The rate had been 3.5 percent in June and 2.4 percent in July of this year.

 

Ste. Genevieve County’s unemployment rate fell 1.9 percent between August 2020 and August 2021 from 4.5 to 2.8 percent. The rate had been 3.9 in June and 2.9 in July.

 

Unemployment rates for surrounding counties:

 

Jefferson: 3.8 percent in August 2021, down from 5.9 in August 2020.

 

St. Francois: 3.8, down from 7.4.

 

Bollinger: 3.3, down from 5.1.

 

Cape Girardeau: 2.9, down from 4.7.

 

Missouri: 3.5, down from 6.1

 

U.S.: 5.3, down from 8.5.
