SGHS Speech & Debate students give outstanding performances at districts

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The Ste. Genevieve High School Competitive Speech and Debate team not only hosted the district competition, but also performed exceptionally.

 

“Our team won first place in Speech events, first place in Debate, and 2nd place in Readers Theatre.

Additionally, several of our team members advanced to finals!” a team official stated.

 

 

Individual results:

 

Trey Bloom: 1st in Lincoln-Douglas (LD) Debate (advancing to state)

Shay Coleman and Emma Mittermeyer: 1st in Policy Debate (advancing to state)

Charlotte Mooney and Kyler Gugel: 1st in Public Forum Debate (advancing to state)

Bennett Walls: 1st in Humorous Interpretation (advancing to state), 4th in Storytelling;

Readers Theatre Troupe: 2nd in the District

Jeremiah Kunz: 2nd in International Extemporaneous Speaking

Alissa Grass: 2nd in Informative Speaking (advancing to state) and 3rd in Original Oratory

Rae Winch: 3rd in Poetry Reading

Jayden Rickman and Xanna Powell: 3rd in Duet Acting

Jayden Rickman: 4th in Dramatic Interpretation

Ayden White: 5th in Prose Reading

We’d like to share a special thank you to John and Betsy Kunz, Jamie Mittermeyer, and Paula Rose for volunteering their time over the District competition weekend,” a team official stated.
