Bloomsdale resident escapes injury in Jefferson County crash

JEFFERSON CITY — A 27-year-old Bloomsdale resident escaped injury in a traffic crash on Route A in Jefferson County Monday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Chase G. Lindsey was the driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram 5500 when it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 driven by 34-year-old Kenneth W. Bailey of Hillsboro at Sandy Valley Road.

Bailey was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by ambulance. A passenger in Bailey’s truck, 52-year-old Joseph R. Stokes of De Soto suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by ambulance.

The patrol says the crash happened when the Chevrolet experienced a mechanical brake failure while traveling south on Sandy Valley Road and failed to stop at its intersection with Route A as Lindsey was headed westbound in his Dodge pick up.

Lindsey attempted to avoid the Chevrolet by swerving to the right and the Chevy hit his pick up in the bed.

The patrol says Lindsey was buckled up, but Bailey and Stokes were not.

The crash happened about 7 p.m.
