A memorial service will be held at a later date for 80-year-old Marvin E. Matzenbacher of Sparta, Ill., who passed away at 5:05 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021 at his daughter’s home.
He was born January 26, 1941 in Waterloo, Ill. the son of Walter and Ruth (nee Hoffman) Matzenbacher who both preceded him in death.
He married JoAnn E. Brittingham May 3, 1969 in Evansville, Ill.; she preceded him in death on June 8, 2020.
He is survived by two children: Stacey (Mark) Reime of Freeburg, Ill. and Doug (Mindy) Matzenbacher of Baldwin, Ill.; two sisters: LuAnn Smith of Waterloo, Ill. and Donna Matzenbacher of Columbia, Ill.; four grandchildren: Mallory Reime, Kyla (Brad) House, Kole McMahon (Tiffany Woolsey) and Jordan Reime; a great grandchild: Skylar McMahon and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Myrtle Ahne.
Marvin’s first job was at the Waterloo Milk Company.
He was a life-long farmer.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Evansville, Illinois, Waterloo German Band, F.F.A. and a lifetime member of the Randolph County Farm Bureau.
He also served on the board at church and also for the Southern Illinois Conservation.
Marvin also enjoyed going to auctions.
It was Marvin’s wishes to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
