COLUMBIA, Mo.— The Missouri Library Association Literary Award Subcommittee is pleased to announce Laura McHugh as the recipient of honor for literary excellence for her work, “What’s Done in Darkness: A Novel.”
“The committee is proud to award Laura McHugh the 2023 Missouri Literary Award,” said Debra Loguda-Summers, Missouri Literary Award Subcommittee chair. “Committee members have read over twenty books this past year, judging each on displaying an evocative and engaging writing style, proper grammar for the book’s setting or colloquialism, appeal to a broad audience, and accurate documentation when needed. This award was created over 5 years ago to promote interest in authors born or living in Missouri. McHugh’s books have been a literary favorite of many a reader over the years and are always riveting. We are looking forward to her presentation at our 2023 conference.”
McHugh will deliver an author talk on her novel and body of work on Oct. 5, at the annual meeting of the Missouri Library Association in Columbia, Missouri. The annual meeting will attract MLA members from across the state.
