High School Boys Basketball

 

PERRYVILLE — Perryville lost at De Soto 63-59 Friday night.

 

The Pirates play at Chester Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Chester Invitational Tournament.

 

PERRYVILLE – The St. Vincent boys basketball lost to Kelly 51-45 in overtime Saturday in the Central Shoot-out Saturday.

 

St. Vincent led 12-9 after one, 23-16 at the half, 33-30 after three and 39-39 after four. Kelly outscored the Indians 12-6 in the overtime period.

 

Blake Monier had 19, Grant Abernathy had eight, Simon Unterreiner seven, Dylan DeWilde had six, and Jacob Schremp had five.

 

St. Vincent topped Crystal City 71-51 Friday night.

 

The Indians led 18-6 after one, 37-17 at the half, and 55-40 after three. St. Vincent outscored Crystal City 16-11 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

 

Simon Unterreiner had 30 points to lead the Indians. Blake Monier had 12, Payton Strattman had 11, Dylan DeWilde had nine, Grant Aberanthy had seven, and Jacob Schremp had two.

 

The St. Vincent junior varsity beat Crystal City 62-37.

 

Boston Tarillion led the SV JV with 17 points. Max Wheeler had 16, Wyatt Winkler had 13, Parker Ellis had eight, Jacob Seabaugh had six, and Gage Barnes had two.

St. Vincent’s junior varsity improves to 8-2 and they will join the varsity Monday at Advance.

 

The 9-6 Indians and 10-2 junior varsity will play tonight at 6 at Advance.

 

CHESTER – Chester won at Wesclin 54-46 Friday night and then lost to Carterville 60-37 on Saturday.

 

The 7-10 Yellow Jackets host Perryville Tuesday at 7:30 in the Chester Invitational Tournament

Valle Catholic of Ste. Genevieve plays New Athens at 6 p.m. in Tuesday’s tournament action.

 

The CIT begins tonight with Valmeyer vs Gibault at 6 p.m. and Lovejoy and Saxony Lutheran at 7:30.Two more games Wednesday and two more Thursday night. The tournament takes a break Thursday and then has four games Friday: seventh place at 2:30, consolation final at 4, third place at 5:30 and the championship game at 7 p.m.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve varsity boys basketball team played lights out defense and smoking hot offense with a victory over Fredericktown 73-45 Friday night.

 

The Dragons junior varsity came back strong in the second half but fell short 45-34 to Fredericktown.

 

Ste. Genevieve plays at North County Friday night.

 

JACKSON – Saxony Lutheran plays Lovejoy at 7:30 tonight in the Chester Invitational Tournament.

 

High School Girls Basketball

 

CHESTER – Chester won their own Lady Jacket Midwinter Tournament Saturday night.

 

On Friday night New Athens beat Steelville 41-27 in a consolation semifinal game at 6 p.m. and Chester beat Dupo 54-28 in a championship semifinal game.

 

Then the tournament wrapped up on Saturday with three final games.

 

Consolation championship: New Athens 39, Valmeyer 42.

Third place game: Sparta 42, Dupo 37.

Championship: Chester 32, Marissa 27

 

PERRYVILLE – The St. Vincent Lady Indians basketball team fnished in second place in the Delta Tournament.

 

 

 

The Lady Indians defeated New Madrid County Central Jan. 2 54-14 in their first game in the Delta Tournament. They then defeated Meadow Heights 59-34 Wednesday before falling to Delta, the tournament’s host team, 57-44. on Thursday.

 

St. Vincent was scheduled to play Eagle Ridge Christian on Friday, but the score was not reported.

 

The Lady Indians host Valle Catholic tonight at 6.

 

In addition team members Allie Patrick and Lana Adams made the All-Tournament Team.

 

PERRYVILLE – The varsity and junior varsity Perryville Lady Pirates travel to Herculaneum for a 4:30 game tonght.

 

JACKSON – Saxony Lutheran plays at Park Hills Central tonight at 7:30.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle plays at St. Vincent tonight.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve high school  varsity girls are off until Thursday when they play North County at 7:30 p.m.

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve wrestling team hosted the Ste. Gen Duals Saturday.

 

In the first two rounds of the SGHS Wrestling Duals Tournament the Dragons picked up victories over Dexter (78-6) and Mehlville (72-6) and then the Dragons completed te sweep Saturday afternoon with victories over Windsor (60-18) and Valle (65-6).
