Two women suffer moderate injuries in Highway 61 crash

JEFFERSON CITY — Two Ste. Genevieve women suffered moderate injuries in a traffic crash Monday afternoon on Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve County.

 

Missouri State Highway Patrol Master Sergeant B.J. Fowler reported both women were taken to Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, a 62-year-old by ambulance and a 34-year-old by private conveyance.

 

MSgt. Fowler said the crash happened when a southbound 2016 Ford Fusion driven by the 62-year-old slowed to make a left turn and was struck in the rear by a southbound 2019 Nissan Frontier driven by the 34-year-old. After the impact, the Fusion ran off the left side of the roadway and came to rest facing east. The Nissan skidded off the right side of the roadway then returned to the roadway, coming to rest in the southbound lane facing south.

 

The crash happened about 12:44 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 61 and Union Drive.

 

Both drivers were buckled up.

 

Both vehicles had extensive damage. The Nissan was towed by Ives Towing. The Fusion was towed by Ste. Genevieve County Towing.
