Gregory Collin Filer

A funeral will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 for 73-year-old Gregory Collin Filer of Festus, Mo. who passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at his home.

 

He was born February 2, 1952 in Bloomsdale, Mo., to Medford Filer and Edith (Papin) Filer, who preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by his significant other: Christy Winters; two brothers: Mark (Sandy) Filer and Steve (Sharon) Filer; a sister: Mary Beth (Patrick) Werner of Festus, Mo.; two sisters-in-law: Angie Filer and Jackie Moran; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Richard Filer, David Filer, and Michael Filer; and a sister: Gwen Walsh.

 

He was a member of Elks and American Legion.

 

Greg proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist 5 in the Army Security Agency from February 1970- February 1972.

 

Greg loved old cars and owned several in his life.

 

Greg worked for several companies in the transportation field, including serving as Vice President of Field Operations Transportation at Triple Crown Services.

 

Since retirement in April of 2019, he enjoyed working in his yard and around the beautiful home that he built to enjoy after retirement.

 

Greg was a phenomenal cook and hosted many family gatherings.

 

He also admired the wildlife on his property and loved morel mushroom hunting.

 

Greg was “the man with the plan” and will be greatly missed.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 23 and at 9 a.m. Monday, March 24 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. A procession will leave Basler Funeral Home promptly at 9:45 a.m. to Greg’s home to provide one last ride around his lake prior to mass.

 

A funeral mass for 73-year-old Gregory Collin Filer of Festus, Mo.will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24 at St. Anne Catholic Church in French Village, Mo. The Rev. John Schneider will officiate.

 

Burial will be at St. Anne Cemetery in French Village, Mo. with full military honors performed by VFW Post 2210.
