Mississippi Valley Art Guild announces classes

CHESTER – The Mississippi Valley Art Guild has announced its March 2025 classes.

Upcoming classes are:

3/8         Teen Art Guild  ages 10+   1-3pm

                Experimenting with abstract painting

                Instructor:  Barb McCormick

3/11       Stained Glass Creations    5:30-8:30pm     Adults

&             Learn to solder & cut glass to make your own stained glass creation.

3/13       Beginners welcome. Cost $50, includes all supplies

                 Instructor:  Jeanne Phillips.

3/27        Learn to Paint Flowers, second in a series.  5:3-8:30pm

Adults  –  Cost $30 per class  Bring your own paints & brushes if you have them.  Learn techniques to paint petals, stems & leaves using acrylic paint techniques.

3/29         Adult Open Art Studio 1-3pm   Free but donations accepted

We are inviting adults from the community to enjoy an afternoon of        art.  We have paints, markers, adult coloring books, polymer clay, scrapbook paper, etc.   You’re welcome to bring your own supplies.

No skills necessary.  No membership required.

4/5            Easter party  ages 6+  1-3pm

                 Instructor:  Megan Schoenherr

Our Artist of the Month for March is Chuck Cleary. His artwork can be found on display at Buena Vista Bank, Chester Library, Reid’s Harvest House, and Southern Illinois Eyecare.

 

At the last board meeting, committee chairs were selected:

 

Education – Barb McCormick

            Takes care of all things involving classes

 

Maintenance – Steve Eggers

Takes care of all things such as repairs, replacing light bulbs, washing windows, maintaining fire extinguishers, etc.

 

Media – Michelle Daschka

Keeps FB posts up to date, contacts the County Journal and KSGM with events &   info, etc.

 

Scholarship – Cathy Eggers

Takes care of all things scholarship related. In charge of fundraisers for the scholarship fund, ensuring applications are handed out, etc.

 

Website – Mike McClure

            Maintains our website

 

We are still looking for Gallery & Membership chairs.

Gallery – arranging artwork, contact artists to rotate their artwork as needed.  Ensures all artwork is properly labelled.

Membership – Keeps track of dues. Contacts members who are delinquent on their dues.

We’re always open to new ideas.

 

The guild is open every Saturday 1-4pm.  Anyone can drop in during classes also.
