A funeral will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 for 84-year-old Shirley Mae Schumer of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Riverview At The Park Care & Rehab Center in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
She was born March 4, 1940 in Perryville, Mo. to William Lonnie and Rita Opal (Cottner) Boxdorfer who both preceded her in death.
Shirley married Leroy Francis Schumer. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin (Donald) Parmer of Perryville; a son, Jeffrey Gerlach of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Boxdorfer of Perryville, and Michael (Polly) Boxdorfer of Perryville; six grandchildren, Dena (Matthew) Ernst, Tim (Sara) Schumer, Kristy Easley, Sharon Parmer, Jacob (Victoria) Gerlach, and Samuel Gerlach; eight great grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Danny Durkee; a daughter-in-law: Valerie Gerlach; three sisters: Betty Kenser, Cindy Ponder, and Shirley Ann Christ.
Shirley worked for over 30 years at Gilster Mary Lee Cake Plant in the packaging department.
She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren.
Shirley enjoyed dancing, working in her garden and shopping at flea markets.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Shirley knew her Lord Jesus Christ and lived her faith.
Visitation will be 8-10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
A funeral service for 84-year-old Shirley Mae Schumer of Perryville, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville with Rev. Joseph Schlie officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
