A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 23, 2025 for one-year-old Lainey Beth Schmelzle of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born October 19, 2023 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
She is survived by her parents: Drew and Kassey Schmelzle of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; her paternal grandparents: Craig and Mary Schmelzle of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., her maternal grandparents: Kevin and Angela Flieg of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; her great grandparents: James “Goose” & Rosie Schmelzle and John and Margie Flieg; her aunts and uncles: Samantha and Eric Kertz, Cody and Gabby Schmelzle, Paige and Adam Schwent, Holly and Ben Herbst and Ashley Flieg; and six cousins.
She was preceded in death by: great grandparents: Jerry and Barbara Roth; Ross and Lana Cowin.
A private funeral will be held.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Benefit for one-year-old Lainey Beth Schmelzle of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. from 1-10 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at the Bloomsdale Knights of Columbus Hall.
In lieu of flowers and gifts memorials may be made to the Lainey Schmelzle Benefit.
Our time with Lainey was cut short, but it was the best year of our lives. Lainey was smart, witty, happy, sassy, brave, and such a fighter. She shined light everywhere she went and never met a stranger.
She loved to shake her shaker, dance with Mommy, play with Daddy’s mouth, walk around with Papa K, cuddle with GiGi and Nana, sit on her Papa C’s lap, and see all her aunties and uncles. She could never miss out on all of the fun and was sure to be the life of the party.
Lainey embraced all of the love and made sure to give plenty of it back. She will never be forgotten and will continue to live through every soul that she has touched. She has been and always will be our sweet girl and forever loved.
