Southeast extends deadline for fall scholarships

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO – Prospective students now have a little more time to apply for several academic scholarships offered by Southeast Missouri State University. The Office of Admissions has extended the March 1 scholarship deadline to June 1, giving families an additional three months to apply and be considered for scholarships.

The award categories extended to the new June 1 deadline are:

  • Copper Dome Scholarship ($1,000-$3,000)
  • Residence Life Leadership Award ($1,000)

“Making your college choice is a big decision,” said Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions. “Students can still learn more about Southeast at two large upcoming visit events, Show Me Day on March 25 and Visit Friday on April 21. As students continue to visit campus, we want to offer scholarships to help them pay for their education. Extending the deadline helps students, and Southeast is committed to doing what we can to support families on their college journey.”

The University will consider final cumulative GPA and test scores earned through the month of June for these awards. In addition to these opportunities, there are several scholarships with no deadline that are still available, such as the Redhawk Achievement Award.

“Providing access to high quality education without a high cost is our focus,” said Hahn. “In addition to extending the scholarship deadline, students don’t have to take an ACT/SAT for eligibility. With our test optional scholarships, students can qualify for many of these awards with only a GPA.”

Students can apply to Southeast and be considered for scholarships with one form online at semo.edu/apply.

Upcoming Prospective Student Visit Opportunities

  • Show Me Day, Southeast’s premier open house event is Saturday, March 25.
  • Visit Friday, Southeast’s smaller campus visit event is Friday, April 21.
  • Personal campus tours available Monday through Saturday.

To register for any of these, visit semo.edu/visit. Hahn says for families who can’t make it to campus, there are plenty of videos and information online at semo.edu/admissions and admission counselors are available to meet with families via scheduled phone and Zoom opportunities as well.

“It’s important to us that all families interested in Southeast have as many opportunities as possible to get their questions answered and get a feel for the University,” said Hahn. “We’re excited to talk about SEMO with them and be a resource for them, so I encourage anyone who is interested to visit with us in person or schedule time with us virtually.”
