St. Mary aldermen vote to become a fire district

ST. MARY – The St. Mary Board of Aldermen met in special session Wednesday afternoon and voted to become a fire district.

 

The issue was the only matter on the agenda.

 

The aldermen approved a resolution to become a fire district, but a copy of the resolution has not been released.

BE IT REMEMBERED: A Special Meeting of the St. Mary Board of Aldermen was called to order by Mayor Carlton Wyatt on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 beginning at 4:00PM at the St. Mary City Hall, 782 3rd Street, St. Mary, Missouri.  The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America Flag.  Aldermen in attendance were: Annette Hacker, Zenon Duda, Ron Barnett. Alderman Karl Schultz was absent. The city clerk April Grindstaff was also in attendance.  

 

ROLL CALL  

 

Aldermen answering the roll call were: Alderman Annette Hacker, Alderman Zenon Duda, Alderman Ron Barnett and Alderman Karl Schultz was absent.  A quorum was present and the meeting was open for business.

 

A motion was made by Aldermen Annette Hacker and seconded by Alderman Zenon Duda to approve the agenda.  Alderman Annette Hacker, Alderman Zenon Duda and Alderman Ron Barnett voted Aye to approve the agenda.

NEW BUSINESS

 

A RESOLTION TO BECOME A FIRE DISTRICT

 

Alderman Annette Hacker stated that all the Fire Departments were for it.

 

Alderman Zenon Duda stated that it makes since to become a Fire District but had a concern about the distribution of debt from the other Fire Debt from the other Departments.

 

Alderman Annette Hacker stated that it will be better for the Fire Department.

 

Mayor Carlton Wyatt stated that we couldn’t discuss it further because it wasn’t on the agenda at the last meeting.

 

A motion was made by Alderman Annette Hacker and seconded by Alderman Ron Barnett to adopt the resolution. 

 

Roll call was as follows:  Alderman Annette Hacker, Alderman Zenon Duda, Alderman Ron Barnett all voted aye to adopt the resolution to become a Fire District.                                                                                   

 

There being no further business before the board, a motion was made by Alderman Annette Hacker and seconded by Alderman Zenon Duda. Three Aldermen voted Aye.   Meeting adjourned at 4:04 PM.
