Cochran: Stormater improvements in Ste. Genevieve would cost nearly $1 million

STE. GENEVIEVE — An analysis of stormwater improvement needs in Ste. Genevieve has come up with a nearly one million dollar price tag to improve storm run off in three areas of the community.

Cochran Engineering presented its findings in a board of aldermen work session following last Thursday’s regular meeting.

The first area is north of Market Street west of Ninth Street. Cochran suggests a three-acre retention pond between Westwood Drive and Maple Street and improved culverts along Market Street would alleviate flooding in the area around Ninth and Market Strees. The cost  $507,000.

The second area is on Highway 32 to alleviate flooding at Shuh and Sons. The cost is $142,300.

The third area is the entire International Addition east of Rozier and Center Drives and north of Ste. Genevieve Drive. The problem there is the absence of any storm sewer structures at all. The cost: $311,180.

The board of aldermen spent the majority of a work session Thursday discussing the report. Further discussion is expected.
