CHESTER – The Chester High School Lady Jacket Golf Team has gradually improved throughout the season and has come to a plateau of sorts just a week prior to the Cahokia Conference match and the IHSA Regional match.  Coach Meg Schnoeker has been very proud of her girls and is happy that all of them have demonstrated more confidence and expertise as the weeks have passed by.

The Jackets played two recent matches which have demonstrated this improvement.  Wednesday September 14 the girls traveled to Red Bud for a triangular match with Red Bud and Father McGivney and Thursday September 15 they traveled to Sparta to face the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Pioneers from Trico.

At Red Bud Chester lost in a close race against both Father McGivney and the Lady Musketeers, while they split the competition at Sparta beating the Lady Bulldogs and falling to the Lady Pioneers by just five strokes.

Lady Jackets lost to Red Bud, 193-201, and Father McGivney, 191-201

At the Red Bud triangular match Chester played both the Lady Musketeers and Father McGivney closely, but fell in both contests.  Father McGivney won the match with a low team score of 191, while Red Bud finished 2nd with a team score of 193.  The Jackets rounded out the competition finishing third with 201 strokes.

Chester was led by senior Aubrie Medford who shot a 41 for the day in the 9-hole event.  Macy Bert, a freshman, was Chester’s second finisher with a score of 47. Just one strike behind Bert was junior Camryn Luthy who recorded a score of 48.

Freshman Rylie Myers was the Lady Jacket’s 4th finisher with her round of 65 strokes and fellow freshman, Addy Gottschammer had a score of 67 strokes.

Just one stroke behind Hylla and Thakker was Kendall Riechmann with her game of 52. Paige Yasitis shot 55 and rounding out the Father McGivney scores was Sava Jackson who recorded a 60.

Second place Red Bud was led by Annabeth Ohlau who shot 41.  She was followed by Brenn Wilson with her round of 44.  Lydia Koester and Raeleigh Rosson each recorded games of 54 strokes while Makayla Liefer (59) and Katharine Bishop (60) rounded out the Lady Musketeer scoring.

Chester outscores Sparta, 195-232; Trico slips by Jackets by just five strokes, 190-195

The Jackets raveled to Sparta to compete in another triangular match with the Lady Bulldogs and the Trico Lady Pioneers. On this date the Jackets split the competition winning over Sparta, 195-232 and allowing Trico to slip by with a 5-point, 190-195 victory.

Coach Meg Schnoeker said, “The girls played well today and ended up with a team score of 195, just five strokes shy of Trico’s 190 and beating Sparta’s 232.”

Chester’s Camryn Luthy, a junior, earned medalist honors at the Sparta triangular match Thursday September 15 against Sparta and Trico. Luthy shot a 41 to earn her medalist title and helped her Lady Jacket team beat Sparta, 195-232.  The Jackets allowed Trico to slip by with a 5-stroke better score of 190-195.
