Two Cape Girardeau residents hurt in I-55 crash in Perry County

JEFFERSON CITY — Two persons were hurt in a traffic crash on I-55 in Perry County Tuesday morning.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 32-year-old Veronica L. Allen of Cape Girardeau had moderate injuries and 38-year-old Christopher L. Allen of Cape Girardeau had minor injuries. Both were taken by Perry County ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

 

The patrol says the crash happened when the 2021 Mazda CX-5 Christopher Allen was driving north on the interstate was struck in the rear by a northbound 2018 Ford F250 driven by 24-year-old Kendall Bearden of Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was not hurt.

 

After the impact, the Mazda drove into the median and overturned several times, traveling across the southbound lanes and coming to rest on its top on the west shoulder of I-55.

 

Alll three persons were buckled up.

 

The crash happened about 7:55 a.m., at milemarker 123.

 

The Mazda was a total loss and was towed from the scene.

 

The F250 had minor damage and was driven from the scene.
