Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri unveil new cookie at Camp Fiddlecreek trail restoration groundbreaking

ST. LOUIS — Spire and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri are hosting a groundbreaking event at Camp Fiddlecreek, in Labadie Missouri, to recognize the commencement of a 2.5 mile trail restoration project, made possible through the generosity of Spire.

During the groundbreaking event, which was scheduled to take place this morning, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri were expected to unveil the Cookie Season product line, including the new Adventurefuls™ cookie.  An indulgent brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt.

“Girl Scouts is for all girls and for many, their first adventure in the outdoors comes through Girl Scouting,” said Bonnie Barczykowski, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “We are grateful to Spire for their generous support. This trail restoration project will allow all girls across our region the opportunity to explore and enjoy the outdoors here at Camp Fiddlecreek.”

The 2.5 mile restoration trail project will offer a variety of experiences for all skill levels.  Included in the design is an ADA accessible trail that is easily navigable by explorers of varying experience and ability.  Restoration begins this month and is expected to be completed by April 2022.

As part of Spire’s ongoing commitment, they will offer their employees the opportunity to volunteer with the trail maintenance program, helping to ensure the sustainability of these trails for girls long into the future.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Girl Scouts and help support the development of our youth,” said Jessica Willingham, Spire senior vice president, chief communications and marketing officer. Willingham also sits on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “Time spent on the trails gives girls the opportunity to have unique experiences that can lead to lifelong connections and an appreciation of nature.”

Since 1956, Camp Fiddlecreek, located in eastern Franklin County, Missouri, has provided educational and recreational opportunities for Girl Scouts of all ages.
