VFW Service Officer to visit Ste. Genevieve

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve VFW Post and Auxiliary are inviting veterans and their family members to attend a VFW Service Officer Program to be held at the Ste Genevieve VFW Hall on Saturday, November 6 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

A certified VFW Service Officer, Dennis Flynn will be available to answer questions about VA benefits for veterans, family members, and widows/widowers.

Need help in filing a claim or updating status – this can be done at the event. Want to enroll in the VA health system and find out if you are eligible for medical care and prescriptions – get your answers here.

Ever hear about the program “Helmets to Hardhats.” – if you served you may be eligible for monetary assistance while you complete an apprentice program in a trade. Are you caring for a veteran who is a family member? There may be compensation available for you or even assistance to make your home more user friendly for the veteran.

Can a veteran’s child get financial assistance to go to school – you’d be glad to know that’s possible.

Thinking about placement in a Veterans Home (like Cape Girardeau) – don’t wait to start the application process until you have no choice. What about burial at a veterans cemetery?

These things can be planned.

Do you have a service connected disability?

Were you exposed to Agent Orange?

Do you need medals you earned replaced?

These are just a few reasons to attend – if you need more information please call 883-5815 or 573/579-5898.

You do not need to be a VFW member to attend – this is for all veterans.

Bring your DD214 or any records you may have.

Perhaps instead of Benefits we should say “Entitlements” – as a Veteran you earned this!!
