Riverside Regional Library events for October 2021

JACKSON – The Riverside Regional Library has announced the following events for the month of October 2021.

Date: October 1 – 31

Title: Pumpkin Carving Contest

Place: Virtual

Enter our pumpkin carving contest and win a $20 Wal-Mart gift card. Here’s how it works. Select an age category: Children Ages 1-10, Pre-teen/teen, ages 11-17, or adults 18+.

Take a photo of your carved pumpkin. Email the photo to asmithey@rrlmo.org. The winner in each category will be chosen on November 1.

Kits will be available at all Riverside Regional Library Branches – cotton ball ghost craft and spider stem craft

Place: Jackson Civic Center

Get in the mood for fall at this story time with Mrs. A. The program will be at the Jackson Civic Center, 381 E. Deerwood Drive, Jackson.

Title: Adult Craft Tutorial

Place: Virtual

Join Mrs. Sandy for this fun DIY craft project and learn how to make a bleached Halloween T-shirt. Instruction sheet is available at all Riverside branches. Program will be available on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Title: Tie Dye Program

Place: Oran City Park

Join Ms. Tiffany at the Oran City Park to learn how to tie dye. Bring an item to tie dye. Tie dye supplies will be provided. Sponsored by Oran Park Board. (Program rescheduled from September)

Title: Riverside Virtual Book Club

Place: via Zoom

Celebrate TeenTober with Magic Week at Your Branch Library. Pre-teens and Teens (ages 10-17) can enter to win a magic kit each time they visit the library this week.

Title: Read for the Record

Place: Virtual

Join Mrs. A as she reads “Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon” by Kat Zhang. Read for the Record, organized by JumpStart, increases awareness about the critical importance and impact of early literacy. Children with access to high-quality early education and reading programs enter kindergarten better prepared to succeed. In 2020, two million readers participated in Read for the Record.
